Now that Christmas is over and you have a little time to reflect, it would be wonderful to continue the giving spirit and get back twice for yourself while doing it.
First of all, belated Merry Christmas to you and your family. And no, this is not a sales pitch, just a helpful reminder to donate any articles of clothing, books, or other unused stuff you no longer are in need of and pass it along to those who are in need.
You will be helping someone less fortunate than yourself and at the same time you will be doing yourself two favors.
Favor # 1: You will be cleaning out that old closet or room that you have been talking about for 6 months and you will feel good about doing it.
Favor # 2: You may be able to deduct up to 20 % of the approximate fair market value purchase price of the merchandise donated.
Don’t wait, there is only 4 days left to get organized, help another, help yourself and maybe save some taxes, all before the year ends!
